YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT A DAY MAY BRING

In 2023 I experienced what I refer to as a “medical adventure”.

During a 3-month period, there were 4 occasions when I almost died.  As a matter of fact, each and every doctor I saw during that timeframe, and every doctor I’ve seen since then, describe me as a miracle; they can’t believe I survived the events.  (I prefer to call it an adventure, rather than describe it as a terrible time in my life.)

We’ve all heard the saying “life is so short”, but most of the time our words and actions don’t reflect our appreciation of each day which – before we know it – have become years.  Every day we have a unique opportunity to embrace life – with all it’s blessings as well as it’s complexities.  Be wise with your time and treat  it with care.  Find joy in the simple, everyday things such as a beautiful sunrise, the sound of laughter and the smell of fresh-baked cookies (that’s one of my favorites!).  Yes, days will bring challenges as well, but remember that while we can’t control what happens to us, we can control how we react to it.

So many people move through each day as though they’re guaranteed tomorrow.  When you stop and consider it, though, you realize we don’t know when God will bring us home to be with him.  Each day is a gift, cultivate a heart of thankfulness.  This mindset not only enriches our experiences but also allows us to leave a positive, lasting impact on those around us.

Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
